As a city, Ascoli is able to offer much to its visitors; this extends as well to its nearby surroundings.  There is the possibilty of exploring the welcoming sands of the Adriatic at the beaches of San Benedetto del Tronto, Grottamare, Porta San Giorgio (about 28 kilometres).  Or you may prefer the centuries-old forests of Colle San Marco, which dominate Ascoli and offer a superb view of the city (6 kilometres), the rocky hiking paths of the Appenines, immersed in splendid greenery (36 kilometres), the healing thermal springs of Acquasanta Terme (18 kilometres), the archaeological site of Castel Trosino (4 kilometres), the Bourbon fortress at Civitella del Tronto, the second in Europe for its size and state of preservation (12 kilometres), the ski hills of Monte Piselli (16 kilometres), the regional winery of Offida, an area of suggestive beauty (16 kilometres).  There are also the many other characteristic villages with their churches, lanes, houses, and unforgettable panoramas.
